Yard Saints
RUBEN
a night book of the ruby-throated hummingbird
William Vincent Carleton
Ruben the ruby-throated hummingbird comes early, and the feeder is his chapel. He flies in every direction a body should not fly, fattens his little belly for the journey and, one morning, is gone toward the Gulf: five hundred miles with no branch. Lúmine and Líam watch without blinking. A Yard Saints night book about how a small body can keep a long courage, and come home.
