Yard Saints
THE FIRST SOLDIER
a night book of the tufted titmouse
William Vincent Carleton
The tufted titmouse is the chickadee's cousin, though you would not know it. He is first onto the hand, first to take what is offered, first into the weather, and his crest is a little fin that does not wait. In this Yard Saints night book, Lúmine and Líam leave a seed, hold still, and learn that courage is not large; courage is early.
